Vacation time

To me that means even more knitting, starting new projects and, if possible, sightseeing around my home country.
As usual, this blogpost ends with the sightseeing, for those who are not interested. They can skip the last part of this blogpost ;)
Starting new projects. There is a shawl I wanted to do for a long time. But I didn't have the right yarn, Partly, that is. Now, visiting the Weversmarkt at Hoorn, I was able to buy the right combining color. And of course nothing could stop me from casting on! Not even the perfect lunch, served by my husband LOL

Another brand new project is a sweater. The first one in ages! I used to knit sweaters way back, but nowadays I only knit shawls. This yarn and pattern I couldn't resist. The yarn is from indie dyer Loret Karman, the pattern is Westbourne by Isabel Kraemer. You can find them on Ravelry.
And the last one is Now is the time. A shawl with sleeves, Shleeves is the pattern name.

And then we went on a trip to Noord-Holland. One day we were in Amsterdam, a day at Bergen aan Zee (at the beach) and a day in Hoorn. And of course we made some stops on the road to visit yarn shops :-)
Here are some pictures, just to give an idea of the beauty of my country.

My goodness!

My goodness, where did April go? I just realized I didn't post a word since March. April went by and although my mind was set on study and work, I also have been knitting. Knitting is, in a way, surviving.
I finished my cardigan. I can wear it, but I am not quite satisfied with it. The yarn is stretchy, so the sleeves are getting longer and longer. I don't know whether it is because I used a double thread or it is just the wool itself. Perhaps, in a later state, I rip the whole thing and knit it again. But for now, here it is:
I also started some new things. A beautiful project named Sari, designed by Kieran Foley. Fun to knit, but certainly not a no brainer!
I also starte to knit Daisy, designed by Kieran Foley too.

To add balance to my knitting, I casted on a simpler one, Mein Berlin. The design is Prague Pathway  by Erika Flory.
Talking about Berlin, we were there last week, spending our vacation. I really love that city! Want to see some pictures? Here they come! And yes, the cherry blossom trees and rapeseed, that is also Berlin!

Textielmuseum, spinning and weaving in the past

Last week DH and I went on a trip. I had a week off from work and we decided to have a short vacation. We stayed near Nijmegen (youngest DD lives there) and besides meetin her we made a trip to Tilburg to visit the Textielmuseum. So today no pictures of my own knitting and spinning, but some pictures of machines.
