Quilting again

Somehow I got in the mood these last weeks, so I have been quilting. The result doen's show that quick, but here is an idea of what I've done.

I also knitted on Ambrosiane, a shawl designed by Birgit Freyer. I bought some yarn in her shop in Berlin over a year ago and I decided it has to be used for a shawl of hers.

I started, but made a mistake that I couldn't fix, so I pulled it out and started all over again. I think she will become a beauty!

And there is something else in a corner of my mind. I dream about it, but haven't decided yet how to work my dreams out. DD brought me some fabrics from her trip to the USA and of course they must be used to make a New York Quilt. I have been searching on the internet and in my LQS and came up with these fabrics. Now I hope I can find time and spirit in the next vacation. Which is in about a week!

A lot to show ....

There's a lot to show. We went on vacation, two whole weeks, and that means lots of stitching/knitting time.
Mystery #28 is finished. The name I've given it is Lucy in the Sky.

 

I finished the top of A Whimsical Christmas. This quilt is composed by the monthly ornaments of LHN, stitched last year.

 

The second part of Many Years Ago is finished. 

Mary Wigham has progress. And that is very special, because I only can stitch on her on bright summerdays. Outside.

Another shawl is casted on, Gail. Or, my version: NightinGail.

 

Together with a dear friend I sewed a jacket.

 

And there is progress on the Fair Isle Shawl, Red Wine.

Masterclass

Wow, saying "masterclass" isn't enough. You can follow a masterclass, or you can follow a masterclass given by an excellent teacher. There definitely is a difference. And Ted Storm makes the difference.But lets start at the beginning. Sunday afternoon I went by train to my friend Karin. She waited for me at the railwaystation and the welcome at her home was heartwarming. I stayed there for three days and never felt supernumerary. Thank you Karin!My head is still spinning from all the information I got and I have been practising the rest of the week. Here are some pictures (taken by Karin)

At the end of three dazzling days I finished this tulip. Front and back (yes, I even dared to trim away the excess fabric on the back!)


Seeing this you probably understand the lack of time for knitting this week. But I managed to did some stitching done this weekend. Block seven of VHRH is done!

Planting some trees

Several weeks ago I mentioned I was making a gift to someone. Well, now I can show and tell. I'm a member of a Dutch internetgroup and through the years we became good friends. It's a small group and one of our friends is an expat, living in The United States. And... she is pregnant of her third child.
We wanted to surprise her with a giftbox and a good opportunity was Sinterklaas. So we all did our share and there was a box with goodies sent to her. This is my contribution, a hanging quilt.

This week I have been busy planting trees, block 5 of the Village of Hawk Run Hollow.

And I started a new project, a small one, a broomstick lace scarf. Although the loops look a bit of a mess now, after blocking they will be nice and round (I hope).

There's also some progress on Lazy Katy 2. The colours aren't as bright as in real life, due to dark days before Christmas. We already have the tree up!
